B & M Lawn and Garden - Introduction

B & M ProTurf / Lawn and Garden Center got it's start in 1975 when Marc Paquet at the age of 19 decided to strike out on his own after working as a mechanic for others in the lawnmower repair trade. With financial aid from his father Bernie (hence the name B & M), the business began at the corner of Bastanchury and Kraemer Boulevards. From humble beginnings, news of the store's honest and reasonable pricing for both products and service immediately began to surface in the Orange County marketplace. Hard work paid off and within a few years the business had outgrown its original location in Placentia, California. Marc and his longtime friend, ace mechanic, and current Service Manager Paul DuChene realized it was time to expand. They needed help and saw the answer in Gary Monnig, Marc's brother-in-law. Marc recognized Gary's abilities in business and approached him with an offer. A partnership was formed and in 1979 the business was moved from its 800 square foot early stage to a 2500 square foot store on Palm Drive in Placentia.
